This virtual art project, edited and programmed by Nieves de la Fuente, consists of panoramic photos and 360-degree videos from Steffen Meyn's archive, which was created in 2017. As part of his studies at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Steffen worked on a film documentary about the life of the tree house inhabitants in the Hambach Forest. On 19.09.2018 he died in an accident during the shooting.
The pictures filmed by Steffen allow us to take a virtual walk through the Hambach Forest in 2017 and give us a special insight into the conflict between RWE Energy and the tree-house inhabitants, the process of deforestation and the organization of the activists during the occupation of the forest. The 360-degree camera - firmly anchored in Steffen's bicycle helmet - was his silent companion. His perspective on the forest thus becomes ours: we follow the artist's gaze and experience and understand what he saw and heard in the Hambach Forest.
